A Face That EVERYONE Could Love...

Isn't my little boy precious? I am so in love it's amazing. Being able to see him inside of me that way was just incredible. It was easy to see that he already has a sweet personality. He loves to hide his little face behind his hands and didn't like it very much when the ultrasound tech tried to move him around. He enjoys his sleep!!! (Just like his mommy.) The ultrasound tech said that he looked "VERY healthy!". He said that I have been doing a good job feeding my boy and staying hydrated because his amniotic fluid is nice and clear and his muscle to fat ratio is excellent. He has enormous feet (well...they obviously tiny, but in baby terms he's got some big old footsies.) One of the weirdest/coolest/most amazing things ever was seeing him open his eyes on the 4D ultrasound. At one point you could even see the white part of his eye and his eyelashes...can you believe that?! Derek's Mom and her husband Shannon were actually able to watch the sonogram on a live internet feed provided by the facility. They were in a Starbucks in Santa Fe, New Mexico when they first got to see little Brennan :) In other news...Brennan has started having the hicups...a lot. My stomach feels like it's on kick-repeat or something. It's just very short, sharp movements every 2 seconds for about 50-60 seconds. I have heard that this is good for his lung development because he gets the lungs and diaphragm working with the amniotic fluid (once again...so amazing the things that go on in such a tiny little person who happens to be living inside of me right now!!!) Anyway, I am making my way to Seattle/Bremerton/Silverdale in a couple of days and I am very excited about it. Derek seems to be a wee-bit worried that I will go into labor promptly upon my arrival to SeaTac. I assured him that that will not be the case (although I am aware that someone COULD happen...chance are, they won't.) because so far I have had an almost perfect/no complications whatsoever pregnancy. My Doctor was fine with the idea of me taking a trip on a plane and I also have one more appointment on Tuesday right before I head out to the west coast. So, if by some strange turn of events the doc tells me it's best if I stay put...then of course, I will. I'm excited to see old friends and visit. It's going to be grand!

The Big Two-Five!

I am now 25 weeks pregnant and I feel as though I am growing larger and larger as we speak. It's quite frightening actually. Our little guy likes to kick me all night long and relax during the day (typical...) which has proven to make mommy very sleepy during the day, but I love it. Truly I do. I am so blessed to have an active little baby boy who is healthy and (hopefully) happy. So as much as I can't wait to have him in my arms instead of on my bladder...I say...Kick Away Little Guy!

Last week I had my 25 Week check-up which also included doing some glucose testing. This means you drink a bottle of super-sweet-melted-popsicle-like substance and then you wait an hour and they take your blood and run tests on your blood to see how your system reacts to the sugar. Now, before I did this I had heard horror stories of how awful the "goo" tasted and how horrible the flavor choices were, etc. I have to say...I wasn't particularly displeased with the TASTE of the beverage (I had orange)...it was more the completely ridiculous light headed spinning room feeling that I felt about 10 minutes after I drank it. Ewww. Let me tell you though, Baby boy LOVED it. He was doing back flips and front flips and side flips...and the moon walk! I could almost hear the circus music playing as I watched my belly jump. It was highly amusing. Not for the doctor though...he couldn't keep the baby's heart rate on the monitor for more than 2 seconds because he kept moving so much! Silly boy:) ***Note to self....do NOT give baby sugar. He will be awake all day and night.***

It is so hard to believe that in just 3 short months (give or take a week) we will have a new little member of our family to hold and squeeze (not too hard!) and kiss and hug and love! It makes my heart swell to think of it. Stay Tuned!

Little Baby Spaghetti Squash

So I am now 22 weeks pregnant. WOW...I cannot believe how quickly the time has gone by already. Pretty crazy! According to pregnancy.com our baby boy is now about the length of a spaghetti squash! Have you seen those things?! They're HUGE! Luckily when I got my update via email I had a spaghetti squash on hand (Derek thinks they are yummy) and I was able to hold it to my abdomen and try and grasp exactly what my baby might be feeling right now. He's probably nice and snug in his spaghetti-squash-sized-womb. Although he does love to stretch out and I feel it all the time! He is quite the little mover. He just kicks and flips and jabs away all the live long day, but mostly during the night when Mommy wants to sleep :) Typical. It's ok though. The movement makes it even more real to me that soon I will be able to hold my little man in my arms instead of my belly. Amazing.

Sweet Little Baby Boy...

WE'RE HAVING A BOY!!!!

Today we got to go have our 20 week ultrasound. I was very nervous going in (normal Mom behavior, I'm sure) and I just couldn't wait to see our little baby! Little did I know that I would leave that room knowing that I am going to have a SON! *sigh*
Everything was perfect! All of his organs are forming just as they should be, we could see his fingers and toes wiggling around and we even saw him putting his hand in his mouth! The technician said that all of his bones and organs are right at 20 weeks when she measured him which is right on cue! He's a very punctual little fella. The only thing that went wrong was that he wouldn't hold still in the right position long enough for the tech to get a good shot of his heart! He kept putting his sweet little hand up to his face (sometimes it looked like he was praying...he's very spiritual, you know) So we have to go back again in a week. Which is fine by me because that just means I get to see my little man again.
More to come soon!!!

A New Adventure

I figured I would jump on the bandwagon and start a blog. It seems that this is what people do nowadays when they have a baby on the way. SO...here we go. Hopefully this will be a nice way for our friends and family to stay updated and see pictures and such. Stay tuned...it's about to get really interesting!
